Taking fashion risks has never been easier, or more rewarding. The five ways I have displayed fashion risk below are barely scratching the surface, I plan of diving deeper into this at a later time. This is a good into pushing the fashion envelope for those who want to unleash their inner fashionista. I hope you read this feeling inspired to utilize what is in your closet, possibly look through a new pair of fashion glasses when you are shopping next, set you own rules, and never let your clothes WEAR you!
Denim on denim also known as the Canadian tuxedo. Many shy away from styling denim together but I absolutely adore this look. Here is the rule of thumb lighter shades of denim bring attention to the body parts they cover opposed to a darker wash that creates a more slimming effect. while darker washes create a slimming effect. So keep that in mind when pairing a denim jacket with your denim skirt or pants. You can have a lot of fun with your wash pairings as well because denim now comes in so many fun shades from your more classic washes like I am wearing in the photo to neon colors.

Play around with a color or pattern you have never worn before. I do not wear a lot of red unless it is lipstick. So when I wear red I love to use it as a neutral to balance out a pattern like polka dots or animal print. When you pull out that color your friends and family rarely see you wear it is a great confidence booster and be prepared for all eyes will be on you! (In a good way)

Go topless under a blazer or vest. Talk about pushing the envelope and taking a risk! Obviously, this would not be an appropriate look for the office but if you are going from desk to date night and you are pressed for time this would be the perfect transition.

Dial up the drama with puff sleeves. One of my favorite ways to add a little va va voom is to dress up denim, jeans or a skirt with a top that has over-sized sleeves. Be careful not to over do it with the accessories or the bottoms you choose to pair with it. The star of the show here are the sleeves! We are seeing this trend more with organza lately. Perfect for holiday time, date night or a night out with your girls!

Wear white after labor day, it is the perfect neutral to keep in your wardrobe that you can wear year round. Depending on where you are located in the globe the first part of Autumn may be warm so wearing a white dress is acceptable, white pants are perfect to pair with a sweater and boots or even bringing cream to the forefront of your wardrobe in the winter months in the form of a pea coat, blazer, dress or wool blend pant.

Remember, fashion risk are a form of expression… Take the risk. Express yourself!
