Sustainability has been quite a buzz word for the past few years in several markets from environmental, manufacturing and food. Now it has made its way to fashion! The concept of sustainability focuses on meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
Unbeknownst to us consumers, the fashion industry is one of the top contributors to environment pollution– that is astonishing!
With that being said what can us fashionistas and consumers do to help conserve our environment?
- Shop brands that recycle materials
- Purchase clothing that uses 100% organic cotton, organic cotton uses less water and pesticides.
- Check to see if the brand uses non- toxic dyes and chemicals.
This is just one step towards helping our environment. I understand not all of our favorite brands have conservation and sustainability as their main objective however the more we as consumers are aware and start supporting the brands that are devoted to this movement the more other fashion houses nationwide will move forward with this initiative.
